CONCLUSIONS

We have successfully synthesized the samarium doped silica nanopowder by sol gel method.

The valuable data obtained in XRD sequence determine the nanocrystallite size as ~17 nm

(Debye-Scherer) with lattice constant 10.7 Å. TEM micrograph with SAED pattern reveals
the XRD results true about nanocrystallites size. Further, cubic phase of of Sm2O3 crystal

structure and small portion of monoclinic phase is noticed which is due to nature of materials
after embedded in silica. Optical absorption spectra display the absorption band or peak due

to presence of SiO2 and samarium ions embedded in that. Red shift is also obtained with
shifting in band gap energy ~ 0.17 eV. Fluorescence spectra obtained excitation and emission

spectrum in perfect manner matches with related research work. Emission in the composition

of violet-indigo, indigo-blue and blue-green region resulting has many applications in
               optoelectronic and biomedical appliances.
