mortality for both individuals and other wildlife, all is synthesised in the cytoplasm (Chafekar
& Fielding, 2018). Coronav coronaviruses are highly infective in elderly patients with
prolonged illness conditions (Guan et al., 2020; Huang et al., 2020; Deng & Peng, 2020).
When coronavirus strand infects a host cell, it must first interact with S protein of the host
cell in order to gain entry into the cell. Capable of this virus will form a frame complex with
the host cell's angiogenesis enzyme, allowing for replication (Walls et al., 2020).
Numerous plants and their by-products have been researched extensively because of their
high antioxidant and antimicrobial properties on the globe, especially onion which contains
numerous bioactive compounds with flavonoids, phenolic compounds, tannins, etc. (Devi et
al., 2012; Panpatil et al., 2013; Patra et al., 2016; Yashin et al., 2017). Ayurveda, naturopathy,
Siddha, Unani, and Homeopathy are all types of Indian medicine, or there are recognised six
distinct systems of Indian medicine called Ayurveda, Unani, natpathy, and yoga (Ravishankar
& Shukla, 2007). In India, the science of life is also "ethno medic and philosophy of well-
being." About 20,000 species are known to have medicinal properties, but about 800 plant
communities rely on the local populace for their use in treating different medical maladies
(Dev, 1997).
The second coronavirus epidemic wave, known as SARS-CoV2, led to considerable
hardships as the disease is not treatable at the time. So we have to look for medicinal agents
who can work against SARS‐2 to protect mankind by nurturing immunity against it. During
the COVID-19 pandemic, the Indian government has issued advisory recommending AYUR-
based therapies, such as turmeric, cumin, and garlic for general self‐care. The advisory also
suggested having 1–2 cups of natural basil, cinnamon, black pepper, or ginger drink
decoctions (herbal teas made from these herbs 1 to 2 times per day. To improve the flavour,
use natural sugar or fresh lemon juice. The recommended dosage is half a teaspoon of
turmeric powder applied to a quarter cup of hot milk (Golden Milk). This article contains an
overview of scientific studies about spices and herbs as well as their mechanisms of action.
ANTIVIRAL PROPERTIES OF PLANT BASED PRODUCTS (HERBS AND SPICES)
Numerous plants and their by-products like herbs, barks, leaves, roots etc. have medicinal
properties are called immunity boosters. Among such mentioned categories, Garlic (Allium
sativum), Thymus Serpillum (Tinos-Giloy), and Eleutheroco citrus Root (Eleuteria) (Mehta,
Tailang, & Singh, 2016). Selected spices in cooking from the ancient times like turmeric,
ginger, clove, cinnamon etc. are recognised as immune system stimulators, in addition to
their ability to reduce the virus (Sharma et al., 2017; Srivastava et al., 2020). The article only
