4. DISCUSSION:
The above experimental data indicates that all plant extracts in double distilled water show
great potential to kill mosquito larvae. The survival rate of larvae depends upon the mode of
action of plant extract within incubation time. In comparison, the mortality percentage is
highest in C. tamala in all concentration and incubation period, it shows C. tamala consist
some specific compound which inhibits the growth of larvae. In addition, A. indica and P.
emblica represents positive result against larvae death. The plant extracts highly interfere in
the mobility of larvae in each test, apart from this control larvae showed high mobility and no
mortality in the given time of incubation. The qualitative test indicated various compounds
are present in leaves, which may alter the life cycle of larvae. The statistical results and plots
show the LC50 value of C. tamala is lowest in both incubation periods. Due to the lack of
dead larvae in each concentration on P. emblica extract after 24h incubation so their
mortality% is zero and LC50 value is nil, but after 48h incubation, dead larvae were reported.
