Figure 3: Unrooted phylogenetic tree of 64 DGAT 1 Protein from different plant species. The
phylogenetic tree was based on the sequence alignment by Clustal Omega which was subjected to

evolutionary analysis using NJ clustering in MEGA 6.06 Evolutionary analysis package with
               bootstrap of 1000.
               DISCUSSION:

Biofuel is obtained from plant based hydrocarbons. It is a known fact that long chain

hydrocarbons in plants are biosynthesized via two basic mechanisms i.e. fatty acid
biosynthesis and isoprenoid biosynthesis which involve fatty acids and isoprenoids as

hydrocarbon precursors respectively. Fatty acid biosynthetic pathway gives rise to TAG
among other biomolecules (Figure 4). The biosynthesis is initiated with conversion of

acetoacetyl to acyl-ACP. This conversion needs two key enzymes- acetyl CoA- carboxylase
and beta ketoacylACPsynthase (KASIII). The product acyl ACP can undergo one of the three
