(e) A three residues deletion in the transmembrane regions 8 and 9 and a 17 residues deletion
towards in the C-terminal region corresponding to the final transmembrane region 9 in Morus
notabilis.
PHYLOGENETIC ANALYSIS
Phylogenetic analysis was performed using Neighbour-joining method implemented in
standalone MEGA6.0 software package (24) using the bootstrap value of 1000 to test the
robustness of the tree. Phylogenetic tree obtained (Figure. 3) depicted three major clads, one
comprising of the members from the Brassica family (genus Arabidopsis, Brassica, Eutreme,
Capsella and Arabis), second having a single member from Taxus cuspidata and the third
consisting of all other members showing clear divergence between the monocots and dicots
as far the evolution of DGAT1 protein sequences is concerned. The third clad further
consisted of many sub-clads indicating a strong family specific conservation of DGAT1
proteins with high bootstrap values. Notably the four potential commercial fuel producing
plants (Euphorbia tirucalli, Euphorbia pekinensis, Ricinus communis and Jatropha curcas)
were also grouped into single group along with other members including Populus trichocarpa
(http://www.megasoftware.net/mega4/m_intro.html).
