The current comprehensive survey revealed the presence of 65 taxa (Plate – II, III &
IV) belong to 43 genera of 22 families under 4 classes (Chlorophyceae, Cyanophyceae,
Bacillariophyceae and Euglenophyceae). Among them, Chlorophyceae is the predominant
class with 42 taxa (65%), followed by Cyanophyceae with 10 taxa (15%), Bacillariophyceae
with 8 taxa (12%) and class Euglenophyceae is the least group with 5 taxa (8%) (Fig.II).
Chlorophyceae comprises 24 genera under 10 families. Similarly, Cyanophycea (7
genera under 4 families) and Bacillariophyceae (8 genera under 7 families) are intermediated
classes. Euglenophyceae is least class, represents with 4 genera belong to 1 family.
In Class Chlorophyceae, Desmidiaceae is the overriding family comprises 22 taxa
with 8 genera, followed by Hydrodictyaceae with 4 taxa of 3 genera, Zygnemaceae with 4
taxa of 2 genera, Selenastraceae with 3 taxa of 3 genera, Oocystaceae with 2 taxa of 2 genera,
Coelastraceae with 2 taxa with 1 genus, Volvocaceae with 2 taxa of 2 genera.
Dictyosphaeriaceae, Oedogoniacae and Scenedesmaceae are the families represents with
single taxa. Likewise, in Cyanophyceae Chroococcaceae is the dominant family with 5 taxa
of 4 genera, follows by Aphanizomenonaceae with 2 taxa of 1 genus, Oscillatoriaceae with 2
taxa of 1 genus and Glaucocystidaceae is the least family with single taxa. In Class
Bacillariophyceae, Navivulaceae is the dominant family with 2 taxa of 2 genera.
Bacillariaceae, Catenulaceae, Fragilariaceae, Gomphonemataceae, Melosiraceae and
Pinnulariaceae are the least familes represents single taxa. Whilst, Euglenophyceae,
Euglenaceae is the one and only family with 5 taxa of 4 genera (Table – I & II).
