both in periphytic, benthic and pelagic environments. Most of the micro algal taxa have not
been focused, due to the lacuna on the survey, identification, and inadequate attention of their
availability in a particular geographical area. Hence, this present attempt was made to fetch
out the preliminary data on the occurrence of micro algae from Keladi pond which is one of
the perennial ponds of Shivamogga District, Karnataka. The present endeavour authorizes the
occurrence of of 65 taxa belong to 43 genera of 22 families under 4 classes (Chlorophyceae,
Cyanophyceae, Bacillariophyceae and Euglenophyceae). The particulars about significant
facts were enlisted and discussed in detail. Also, the equipped information would be the first-
hand data to the researchers for outspreading their investigation in innovative way.
