  • Got scholarship for getting second position in DHARAM SHIKHA EXAMINATION, in 1974, held by DAV College Managing Committee.
  • Got ‘O’ Grade in Viva-Voce of M.Phil.
  • Declared the Best Student of HMV in 1975
  • Got Seven Gold Medals in Punjab State Inter-varsity Debating Competitions
  • Held the proud offices of Head Girl, Secretary of Debating Society and Editor of Hindi Section of Magazine Deepshikha, HMV Jalandhar.

ACHIEVEMENTS AS PRINCIPAL AT KHANNA

a) Strength of the college went up considerably

  • There was a whopping increase in the number of the students, who secure first position in the University exams.
  • The college has had the distinction of having produced intervarsity National and International players in Boxing, Karate, Table Tennis, Chess and Athletics.
  • Have been instrumental in hosting Zonal Youth Festival thrice in the college and bagged maximum numbers of prizes.
  • Overall positive development in the institution was clearly discernible.  During her tenure at A.S. College For Women, Khanna, B++ grade was awarded by NAAC in 2005 to the college.

 

b) New Courses started at A.S. College For Women, Khanna:-

  • The college now offers Post-graduation in Hindi and Economics
  • Honours in English, PGDCA and B.Sc. Fashion Designing have also been introduced for the last many sessions.
  • The college offers vocational subjects and Hobby classes.

 

c) Face Lifting of the college i.e. A.S. College For Women, Khanna

  • An impressing double storey building of college hostel having all the modern amenities has been erected.
  • The college looks beautiful and impressive with well-maintained infrastructure.
  • Cash flow as a result of generous donations from MPs, MLAs and grants from the UGC have been put to optimum use for construction work in the college and laying out of sprawling lawns.

 

 

STUDY TRIPS AND CONFERENCE ATTENDED

Each moment of life is an opportunity for acquiring more knowledge.  Keeping this in mind, I keep adding to my learning experience by attending various conferences:-

  • Attended Executive Development Programme for College Principals conducted by IIE-Pune from 16th to 25th Feb., 2004.
  • Part of Leadership Development Programme organized by Panjab University at Ludhiana from 12th August, 2000 to 19th August 2000 and by SEED at New Delhi from 20th Dec., 2001 to 24th Dec., 2001
  • Attended Workshop for Principals of accredited and non-accredited colleges on 16th Sept., 2005 at ICSSR, Chandigarh.
  • Participated in NAAC, SEMINAR-CUM-WORKSHOP and on Integration of ICT by Panjab University Chandigarh on 22nd Sept., 2005.
  • Was a Resource Person for the participants in Academic Staff College by Panjab University on 9th June, 2005.
  • Chosen for the study trip organized for the first time by Panjab University, Chandigarh under the leadership of Dean, College Development for Bombay, Ahmedabad, Pune, Bhopal from 3rd April, 2005 – 7th April, 2005.
  • Attended the Principal’s meet on Education at the Crossroads: Enhancing Academic Culture at Panjab University, Chandigarh on 22nd Nov., 2009.

 

LECTURES DELIVERED

  • Read two papers on HUMAN RIGHTS and THE SCRIPTURES at the National Conference at HMV Jalandhar and DAV College, Amritsar.
  • Attended seminar on Reading of English Poetry – A Class Room Commitment at DAV College Hoshiarpur on March 3, 2001.
  • Delivered lectures to the teachers in service at Govt. College of Education, Jalandhar, DAV Schools Batala, Army School, Fazilka and local schools at Khanna such as Swami Chhagan Lal Jain Public School, Acharya Atma Ram Jain School, Radha Vatika School and of nearby villages.
  • Delivered a lecture on Need of Moral Education in Police Lines at Phillaur.
  • Keep on delivering lectures on Social Problems in the Public Functions organized by NGOs.
  • Keynote speaker in National Seminar on Need for Sharing Healthy Practices among Institutions of Higher Learning at SPN College, Mukerian on 19th March, 2008; on Women Empowerment at SD College of Education, Moga on 8th March, 2006, on State Level Seminar on Feminism: Different Aspects at Guru Nanak Girls College, Muktsar.
  • Delivered lectures at A.S. College For Women whenever State Level Workshop/Seminar were organized as on Work Culture (14th May, 2002).

  • Was highly appreciated for lecture on Female Foeticide and Drug Addiction on 8th March 2008, at Grain Market Khanna on International Women’s Day.  The lecture was very well received by the then Chief Justice of Punjab & Haryana High Court, Sh. Vijendra Jain.

ACHIEVEMENTS AS LECTURER

  • Was NSS Incharge from 1979 to 1981.  Attended NSS Training Camp from August 20, 1979 to Sept.1, 1979.
  • Was associated with the Youth Department of the college from 1981 and prepared students for Inter College and Youth Festival Competitions.
  • Was assigned the duty of stage scretaryship of Sports Functions and College Fetes and also compered the 60th National Junior Table Tennis Championship held at Jalandhar from 25th Dec. to 31st Dec.
  • Editor of English Section of the College Magazine ‘DEEPSHIKHA’.
  • Incharge of Debating Society and Quiz Committee
  • Remained Staff Secretary for 4 years.

  • Honoured with a Citation by Senior Citizen Welfare Council (Regd.)Khanna.

  • Have been invited many times as an expert for Debates for the programme ‘NAVRANG’.  Have been interviewer for the programme ‘AKS-AKS’.
  • Have also been regular commentator for Sargarmian.

 

SOCIAL SERVICE

  • Being the member of ‘Lok Adalat’, ‘Consumer Forum’ and ‘Police Community Resource Person’, I patiently listen to the complaints of the aggrieved persons and try my level best to redress their grievances.
  • As a Principal, I always endeavour to promote the needy and the deserving students in every possible way and try to inculcate moral values among them.
